We stayed overnight at the glidng club clubhouse at Lochiel. Here Allan
prepares to make use of the 'honeymoon suite'.

Anna and Allan getting ready for bed. The clubhouse extensions are in the
background.

On the Road
We're on the road the next day, on the way to Port Augusta. Janet's 4WD is
ticking over nicely.
Outback Terrain
A typical view of the red earth and small trees of outback Australia. Later on
the trees will give way to stumpy bushes.
Salt Lake
All the lakes in South Australia are salt. Here is one viewed from the side of
the highway. It is called 'Island Lagoon' and the island is 'Pointed
Island'.
Woomera
Woomera is full of military displays of the rocket research conducted in the
50's and 60's. 'Woomera' is an aboriginal word meaning a spear-throwing
implement.
Woomera Shops
View of the pleasant shopping area outside the hastily renamed 'Eclipse
Café'.
Woomera Shops 2
There were plenty of tourists around taking pictures of everything.
Lunch

On the Road Again
And we're back on the road after lunch. Fiona in the foreground.
Arrival
Arrival on the shores of Lake Everard. Kim picked out the spot the day before
and vectored us in using the CB and the GPS.
The Sun
Shining brightly, and not cloud in the sky.
Lake Everard
This is the view to the west over the lake where the eclipse will take
place.
Unpacking
Anna begins unpacking the 4WD.
More Unpacking
Allan and Anna showing the 4WD packed to the gills.
Camp Site
The wind was blowing 15 - 20 knots. Very unexpected. So we camped in the lee
of some trees.
Fiona in the Car
Fiona decided she didn't want to camp out and slept in the bach seat of the
car. Here she gets some late afternoon rest.
Dinner
We tuck in to an early dinner of pasta and pesto, with a nice red. Visible are
Anna, Allan and Peter. Fiona can be seen in the tent.
Dinner 2
This time I've decided to look at the camera.
Pin and Kim
Father and son. 'Pin' Needham and Kim Needham picked a perfect site to view
the eclipse, with a nice view over the lake.
Morons From Outer Space II
Allan and Anna ham it up!
Over There!
Yes, it's the big bright ball in the sky; you can't miss it. P.S. I guess the
eclipse sunglasses worked otherwise we'd all be blind by now.
Fiona
Fiona assiduously avoided the camera the entire trip, but those glasses are so
dark you wouldn't be able to see a cameraman lurking around.
Leading the Way
An inspiring shot of a couple facing the future together.
Setting Up
Pin Needham sets up the suite of video and still cameras. There is also a
pinhole camera projecting onto a screen.
