Off Snorkelling
Off we go out to the reef to indulge in a little snorkelling —
see the fish, play with sharks, dodge the coral.
Octopus 1
Can you see the octupus? It's right in the middle of the bunch of
rocks.
Octopus 2
Octopus again. Well camouflaged isn't it? The flipper gives some scale.
Feel the Shark!
Our guide grabbed a shark and said, "Feel this!" We all had a feel. Wow!
Sharks' skin is rough, not smooth and slippery like I was expecting.
Manta Ray
The skin of manta rays, in comparison, is smooth and slimy. Sorry, there's
no pictures of me feeling up a manta.
Fish
There's no shortage of fish on the reef.
Lots More Fish
Even more fish. They loved to cluster in the shade of the boat.
Our Underwater Guide
Our guide was a natural fish himself. Here he is emerging from a tunnel in the
coral that he'd entered about 10m away. Obviously he does this routine for
all the tourists.
Jean's Back
Here we see Jean's back (you can almost see the tattoo) and our guide
with the colourful pants.
Going Home
Back to the mainland (?) of Caye Caulker. Our Belize/Guatemala guide, Lee
Nicholson, sitting at the back of the boat.
